A bumbling American smuggler inadvertently involves a beautiful woman from the World Health Organization in his mounting list of problems when a bag containing millions worth of opium is substituted for his at a train station. After a corpse appears in his hotel room, police, drug dealers and a motley crew of thugs pursue them in a cross-country dash to the ashram of his partner, an eccentric guru who invented an herbal cure for hemorrhoids, worth more than the opium.
Poet and comedian Robert MacLean was born in Toronto, taught film at Canadian universities, and now lives in Greece. He publishes novels and stories and does readings in Europe and America. His funeral-parlor farce Mortal Coil was performed at the Manitoba Theatre Centre (the novel's on his website), and in July his one-act Steel Man was mounted off Broadway at John Houseman's Studio Theatre. Robert has just finished a five-minute filmette, The Moment of Accepting Life. Read The Edge of the Earth, another excellent novel by author.
