![]() The Fiction Works has an impressive list of eBook titles, and we'll continue adding new ones on a regular basis, so needless to say, I follow the "eBook Wars" with great interest.
Amazon has created tremendous interest in eBooks with its impressive Kindle eReader, and recently Barnes & Noble countered with their interesting Nook device. Sony offers three nice eReaders.
And now comes Apple with their dazzling iPad and it's a game-changer, in my opinion. I am an Apple fan to the core (if you'll excuse the pun), so the iPad's immediate "media darling" acceptance comes as no surprise to me. Apple just knows how to promote its new products, and being an old director of casino marketing, I admire their style. Couple that with amazing engineering and you have a winner.
The iPad's potential has not gone unnoticed by many of the "giants" in the publishing industry, and they're already working hand-in-hand with Apple to develop product for the iPad. The next year will see an avalanche of newspapers, magazines, digital comic books, eBooks, and much more become available for this wonderful device. The iPad will also find its way into the hands of college students, members of the medical profession and business people from every walk of life.
So, will The Fiction Works develop product for the iPad? We're already hard at it, and we're excited about the digital future. We're including the Kindle, Sony and Nook in the mix, too. It's going to be an interesting year. —Ray Hoy, Publisher
